After weeks of waiting, we finally arrived in Mexico! Actually getting to Tehuacan was quite the ordeal but all worth it. We flew into Mexico City on Tuesday where Teo and Alfredo, two of the native staff here, were there to greet us and take most of the group by bus to Tehuacan. However, since some of the teachers where flying in on Wednesday, Becca and I stayed the night in Mexico City so we would meet the other teachers on Wednesday.
Wednesday was where things really got interesting as we spent practically the whole day in the airport. We met two of the other volunteers but then we had to take a bus over to the other terminal to meet up with two other girls. To make things even more interesting, one teacher had a problem with her connecting flight in Phoenix and so I ended up sending Becca with the other teachers to Tehuacan while I waited behind at the airport for the last girl. She finally arrived at 9:30 and we hopped on a bus to Puebla where I stayed the night before finally traveling to Tehuacan on Thursday.
It was nice to finally arrive and to meet Rachael and Sandy. Both of them are amazing and have really helped all of us adjust to our new home and feel comfortable here. I am really excited to work more with both of them in the coming months.
